THE SCIENCE BEHIND SUPERFOODS

Updated: Apr 4, 2020

Have you ever considered what puts the "super" in superfoods?

Consider the Following Superfoods:

Panax Ginseng, Aloe Vera, Noni, Marine Phytoplankton, Spirulina, Chlorella, Reishi, Chaga, Cordyceps, Lion's Mane, Boswellia Serrata, Turmeric, Colostrum, Ashwagandha, Astragalus, Goji Berry, Andrographis, Larch Arabinogalactan, Holy Basil, Gynostemma, Maca, Garlic, Ginger.

These superfoods exhibit both immunomodulatory and adaptogenic properties.

Immunomodulation= process in which an immune response is altered to a desired level.

Adaptogen= a natural substance considered to help the body adapt to stress and to exert a normalizing effect upon bodily processes.

Adaptogens have the intelligent abillity to “modulate” the systems of the body and desensitize all cells in the body to any source of stress. These superfoods enable the body to adapt to current needs and normalize function. If the immune system is overactive they will help suppress it, if it is underactive they will help stimulate it.

What gives these superfoods their immunomodulatory and adaptogenic properties?

For this question to be answered the chemical compositions of these superfoods must be cross-analyzed to find what they all have in common. That is exactly what we have done at GlycoLife Sciences and the discovery is quite fascinating.

The Discovery:

After cross-analyzing these superfoods we discovered that they all contain polysaccharides consisting of specific monosaccharides proven to be essential in cell-cell communication.

Scientists have identified a number of these "essential saccharides" that are found surrounding all living cells and are necessary for cell-cell communication.

From this we can hypothesize that the adaptogenic and immunomodulatory properties of these superfoods is at least partly due to the presence of polysccharides consisting of essential saccharides.

It would make sense that enhanced cellular-communication would result in such properties.

Essential saccharides ➜ enhanced cell-cell communication ➜ Immunomodulation and adaptation

In addition to this discovery, by cross-analyzing the unique benefits of specific superfoods with essential saccharides present in each we have been able to identify healing properties of a number of these saccharides.

Conclusion:

We can hypothesize that essential saccharide-containing polysaccharides put the "super" in superfoods.

GlycoLife Sciences:

At GlycoLife Sciences we have identified natural sources of these essential saccharides and have worked with a number of product developers and manufactures to attain potent extracts of these sugars in their natural state. By utilizing cutting-edge technology polysaccharides are able to be isolated for maximum effectiveness, cutting out undesirable and toxic elements. With these powerful extracts at the core of our products we offer incredibly powerful, yet safe solutions for restoring function in the body.
